Jessica Feldman

Jessica is an MD/PhD student at Brown. After completing her preclinical years and a year as Research Fellow with the BrainGate team, she will begin a PhD in Neuroscience and continue her work with BrainGate in June 2010.

Jessica has been doing research in Dr. John Donoghue's lab in the Dept. of Neuroscience at Brown since her first year of medical school. Broadly interested in translational research and the integration of clinical medicine and technology, Jessica is pursuing a Scholarly Concentration in Medical Technology and Innovation within the medical school. Jessica's primary research focus is on improving control of neural interface systems for humans with paralysis through new understandings of basic neurophysiology, enabled by the very technology of neural interface systems. With physician-scientist training in an exciting multidisciplinary field, Jessica plans to remain in academic medicine and to continue similar translational research efforts during and beyond residency.

Jessica graduated with Honors from Stanford University in 2006 with a BA in Human Biology. Prior to medical school, she helped develop novel search technology at Silicon Valley informatics start-up Medstory, and went on to work at Microsoft as one of the first members of its Health Solutions Group.
