Sydney Cash, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Cash is an epileptologist and researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. In addition to his involvement in the BrainGate clinical trials, his research focuses on both basic and translational neuroscience with an emphasis on using micro- and macro-scale recordings to understand both normal and abnormal rhythms of the brain and leverage this understanding in building interfaces to help patients with a multitude of different neurological problems. Research from his lab has been published in leading journals including Science, Nature Neuroscience, Brain and the Journal of Neuroscience. He has received funding for this work from foundations such as the American Epilepsy Foundation as well as the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Cash received his B.S. from Yale University and then went on to obtain an M.D. and Ph.D. from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He trained as an intern in medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and was a resident and Chief Resident in Neurology at MGH/BWH/Harvard Medical School, where he also completed a fellowship in Epilepsy and Neurolophysiology.
